Biodiversity Innovation Forum 2024

The Biodiversity Innovation Forum 2024 will bring together leading voices in marine conservation to address pressing environmental challenges. Keynote speaker Mr. Harry Chan Tin Ming, renowned as Hong Kong’s “ghost net hunter,” will captivate the audience with his dedication to removing abandoned fishing nets from the city’s waterways. He highlights the therapeutic benefits of diving and his commitment to protecting marine ecosystems, funded entirely by his passion for marine life.
Among the speakers will be Dr. Juan Carlos Astudillo, an Assistant Professor at Hong Kong Metropolitan University and co-founder of afterNATURE, specializing in marine biodiversity assessment and ecological engineering, who will discuss innovative strategies for habitat rehabilitation. Ms. Iris Lo, an aquarist at Ocean Park Hong Kong, will share her efforts in coral restoration and public awareness initiatives. Ms. Samyuktha Sriram from Clearbot will showcase AI-powered solutions for tackling marine pollution, while Ms. Mostafa Monira Firdouse will emphasize the importance of integrating sustainability into economic frameworks to effectively address global biodiversity challenges. The forum aims to foster collaboration and inspire action for a healthier marine environment.
