Supports media innovations to solve business, social or community problems in Asia-Pacific
Awards up to HK$150,000 and resources support including entrepreneurship training
Media-X Prototype Grant Scheme is a pilot funding initiative launched by the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC) of The University of Hong Kong. It aims to work with Asia-Pacific Innovators in developing media solutions to business, social or community problems in a commercially sustainable way.
The initiative is guided by an advisory board chaired by Ruby Yang, an Oscar-winning documentarian and professor at the JMSC, and co-ordinated by Ross Settles, a media business veteran and professor at the JMSC. The Xu Family Charitable Foundation, the family fund of Dr. Eric Xu Yong – co-founder of Baidu, is the contributor for Media-X.
Eligibility:
Media Innovators in Asia-Pacific who fulfil the following conditions:
- Are located in the following country/regions: Greater China including Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.
- Apply as a team of 1-3 members. (A minimum of 2 team members is recommended)
Grant Amount:
Up to a maximum amount of HK$150,000 per award team/project.
Grantees from the scheme will benefit from different services and resource support including entrepreneurship training, use of work spaces at the JMSC, and funding support for developing media solutions.
