A Nobel Prize-Winning Discovery & The Lessons Learnt
07/01/2021 11:00am
Join us to hear the inspiring story of the journey of a Nobel Prize-Winning Discovery first-hand. From 1984 to 1989, Dr Qui Lim Choo worked closely with Dr Michael Houghton, one of the three 2020 Nobel Prize Winners for Medicine/Physiology, in discovering the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) which causes liver inflammation and liver cancer. Their discovery of the virus greatly reduced the risk of acquiring HCV via blood transfusion in the US and other countries. It also opened up a whole paradigm of research and development for vaccines, anti-virals and diagnostics testing.
For his contributions to such ground-breaking discovery, Dr Choo was a co-recipient of many prestigious prizes, and was recognised by the Li Ka Shing Foundation during the 2020 Nobel Week, for his team efforts with his colleague Dr George Kuo that led to this HCV discovery.
In this upcoming webinar, Dr Choo will share his reflections and lessons learnt during his remarkable journey. Don’t miss out if you’re in biotech and looking for inspiration.
